Tuesday, June 22, 2021 was a busy day for excited Fresh students of Tai Solarin College of Education, Omu-Ijebu, Ogun State as the College formally opened her gates to freshmen for the NCE programme, admitting them as students of the College in a brief matriculation ceremony in the College Hall.

The Provost, D Adeola Kiadese Lukman and TASCE management at the matriculation ceremony

As would be expected, it was brief but eventful. The students filed into the hall quite early, with their friends and family in tow. In no time, the academic procession was in place and marching into the packed auditorium. Led by the mace-bearing Speaker of the Student Union Government (led by Omoluabi Taiwo Adeolu aka Taiye Taiwo), the procession filed into the hall and each Dean of the five schools of the College presented their students.

The Deans of the schools: School of Arts and Social Sciences, Mr Akin Peters, the Dean of School of Education, Dr Toyin Adewale (represented by Dr Anuoluwa Adesanya), the Dean of School of Languages, Dr Toyin Makinde, the Dean of School of Science Mr Akin Osibamowo and the Dean of School of Technical and Vocational Education, Mr Goriola.

The Provost expressed delight that the ceremony was holding with students and their relatives physically present and in compliance with all Covid-19 prevention protocol. He said the previous year’s edition had to be done virtually because of the challenges of covid-19. The Provost thanked the Government of Ogun State and particularly the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR, for the restoration of normalcy in the College and for the appointment of very dynamic Governing Council led by the forward-looking and indefatigable Prince Adeyemi Adefulu MFR

In his charge to the students, the Provost of the College, Dr Adeola Kiadese Lukman urged the students to stay focused on their reason for coming to the College. He said if the lecturers are there for teaching, research and community service, the purpose of stay for the students should not be any different. He urged to the students to distance themselves from actions that could cause them to be expelled or rusticated from the College. Some of such actions he identified as unseriousness exemplified in poor performance, examination malpractice and involvement in secret cult-related activities.

He counselled the student to take full advantage of all the facilities made available to them in the College and to excel in their studies. Fresh students for the Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) full and part-time were matriculated.
